Rocks Riverside Park Sandpit
I took the boys to the Rocks Riverside Park today and was quite surprised by what I found.
In point form:
1. It’s huge, the largest riverside park in Brisbane
2. There’s a good range of toddler play toys in the large sandpits
3. Plenty of parking
4. Loads of room for families to gather and picnic
5. About 10 or more shelters with various chair an table arrangements
6. Some BBQ’s
7. A great climbing web and flying fox
8. A community garden
9. A bush walking trail
10. Interesting notes on the history of the area
11. Lots of paths to ride bikes and scooters on
The only 2 things negative that I should mention is that the main attraction of the park is a water play zone. It is surrounded by metal gates as is goes through some intensive renovation right now, but ….. (drum roll) the big news is it is scheduled to re-open for the Easter Holidays. Well that’s what the men wearing the hard hats and fluro vests told me today. When it does re-open it’s sure to be a very popular spot, I know we’ll be spending loads of time there.
The other issue is some of the play equipment isn’t in any shade, so make sure everyone is covered up, hats, sunscreen, etc. (side note: Anzac park if a lovely shady park to visit)
This park is so big I’d recommend it for large family gatherings, grab your cricket set and picnic rug and enjoy a day outdoors. You could even hire some great outdoor games equipment for extra big fun at www.yardgames.com.

Back to Rocks Riverside Park, if you’ve been to this park, then have your say. Did you like it and why? Let us know.
